Spotify Playlists and Pinterest Boards:

  • I took a small detour to make a playlist for NetRider. This includes tracks and songs that influence the overall theme of the game, but then it is split into pieces with these labeled “Secret” tracks.

    • These “tracks” are from Magdalena Bay’s Deluxe version of Mercurial World album. They are 15-40 second tracks that are spread throughout the album and so I’ve used them (and some actually work with the theme of NetRider) as ways to indicate what part of the playlist is for each environment.

    • a playlist incorporating songs for the overall theme of the game, and the narrative. all in one. (each secret track goes to a new environment) overall game ---> derelict servers --> the fringe --> the exurbs --> rycorp.

    • this playlist includes tracks from games like Marathon, Silent Hill 2, Deadbolt, Risk of Rain, Mass Effect 2, and Cyberpunk 2077  and Returnal. It also includes songs from various artists, some of these songs it’s more so the sound and atmosphere that feels like NetRider, rather than the actual lyrics of the song.

  • Additionally, I’ve made a Pinterest board for each environment, and overall feel of the game. My friend is wanting to do art for the game and this will be the best way for me to give them as much context and detail as I can for the art style and theme for NetRider. I’m still working on those and will share them next week.

As I’ve been working through this blog post, I’ve been starting to think deeper about my three final milestone presentations coming up. There is one big thing that I still haven’t really touched on in my presentations but I’ve held back on it on purpose.

How will I run my Studio?

  • This is something that I don’t want to go into too much detail right now, but I want my final presentation of the semester to really focus on this.

  • I want to mention how many people I’m aiming to ask for, how many people I’ve already convinced and are talking too.

  • During the last sprint presentations, someone mentioned that they do office hours with their studio head one day throughout each week. After thinking about that, I ended up really liking that idea and plan on doing something similar to that with my studio team in the fall.

  • Additionally in my final presentation, I will be mentioning an “ideal production pipeline” which will show how much I would want to have finished by the time I graduate, and some smaller goals if issues end up persisting.

Sprint Break Tasks:

  • I’m still currently working on the technical descriptions for the components, and overall aspects of the game. This is my main focus for this spring break before my next blog post/milestone presentation. I will be sharing my progress for that then.

  • In Addtion, New Weapons, Creatures and some Components.

  • Technical Description Flowchart.
