For this Blog Post, I wanted to reflect on my last milestone presentation, and my goals for the final semester.
As the semester starts to wrap up, I’ve started to scale back and confirm exactly what I want done by the end of the semester.
Tasks for Last Milestone of the Semester (In Order of Priority):
All environments (4) detailed and a map using the website software Figma. There will also be a paragraph, and color pallet for each one.
Couple examples for Software Upgrades/Updates (these are permanent upgrades you find after beating a stage).
Paragraph Description for Main Character and Ryder (antagonist)
Overall Proofreading and any Re-Formatting for the Design Doc
The last couple days before my last milestone presentation of the semester I will be going through and putting anything I hadn’t yet in the doc, making sure everything is formatted correctly and in the right place.
During last weeks class, I was recommended to watch the movie Belle (2021) directed by Mamoru Hosoda for inspiration relating to how my games world is set in cyberspace. I decided to watch it that night and It was amazing. The movie takes place in the real world, but also a similar cyberspace type area. The story is emotional and gets unexpectedly serious at the end. The animation was amazing, there were some moments that really stood out to me and I will be taking inspiration for netcode.
The main reason why I was recommended this movie was because of how everyone in “cyberspace” can have their own avatars. It’s their escape and allows them to look in any way that they want.

These are the worlds that I’m currently working on. The Derelict Servers will still need it’s own paragraph description but that one I’ve already worked on a lot.
The Fringe acts as a transition area between each stage. Once you complete a stage, you go back to the fringe. The Fringe allows you to upgrade your weapons, heal, and choose the system upgrade that you want.
