For this week, I’d like to share a couple things. There are a couple things I didn’t get to before this Friday but I am working on it this weekend. I got relatively busy but was still able to make good progress. My main things I’m working on this week was testing out Aesprite. It’s my first time using it, and I’ve been having a lot of fun learning it. Additionally, it helps me visualize the components of the game that I’ve been meaning to work on.
Learning Aesprite and S.T.P (First Boss Fight Idea)
My first idea was to do a rough draw of the first boss of the game. The S.T.P (Server. Terminate. Protocol). This is the first boss and this machine is not allowing you to leave the Derelict Servers.
One of my plans for next week is to go and look up guides for Aesprite. I have friends who use the program regularly who I will also be asking.
The Fight:
This boss is straight forward. Your goal is to defeat the boss by breaking the four cores shown below. You will have to move up and around the boss to get to all four. S.T.P will be sending various attacks which are all electric damage based.
Another thing about the design that I want to mention is that this character will have mechanical eyes in the top two squares. However, this has been difficult for me as I am not well versed in pixel art and color theory in general. This will be one of the things I will looking for support on as I continue to visualize a lot of the characters.
Additionally, I worked a lot on updating my decisions to my design doc, while also started working on a spreadsheet to fully define the keywords and damage types in Netcode. Once this is finished, I will be putting it in the design doc to be also viewed there.
For My Research
I’ve found another youtube video that has been helpful for me is this one by the youtuber Sarah Davis Baker. She talks about old internet forums, the game Hypnospace Outlaw. Additionally, she talks about Geocities which were the ideal web hosting service to use
She also describes the term of “Web Hosting Sites” and “Web Rings.”
Web rings are hosting sites that we're used in the early internet as clubs. There would be a website based on a topic and would link you to a bunch of other types of sites that are similar to me.
Next Steps:
I didn’t get to all I wanted to work on before this blog post. My focus for this weekend is determining the main character and who exactly they are.

Updating and Re-Organizing my Trello.
I plan on re editing and checking back on my milestone goals. I’ve been making great progress since I’ve started but I have started to not check off the every thing I mentioned in each milestone.
