Uncomftorable

Role: Creator, Designer and Writer (Solo Project)

Created for the Class: TOPICS: Why do We change Identities?

Uncomfortable was a game created for a topics class that I took in my final semester at Emerson College. We were tasked with creating a creative project based on some of the topics we talked about during the semester. Some of the topics we talked about were addiction, political identity, change, and much more. It was an incredibly insightful class and I am grateful that I took it.

This game is about a student who struggles with addiction and experiences a mental breakdown during a semester of college. It's a narrative that is very personal to me, as I've had similar experiences during my early years in undergrad. This game was created in Twine and allowed me to make a game where there are multiple endings. This game speaks to the type of projects that I want to work on. The projects that have an existential meaning; the games that take the extra time to answer deep and thought-provoking questions. The games that have subtle themes of cravings, addiction and depression, even if this project is a little more literal. The types of games that I could contribute to using my personal experiences with mental health, providing an alternate perspective.

Trigger Warning: This game includes talks about substance abuse, self harm, depression, and slight mentions of suicide.
